Built on Frustration. Driven by Respect.
NuTech didn’t start with a business plan. It started with a conviction that clients and employees deserve better.
Fred Rappuhn had spent years in the technology industry — from writing software for BBS systems right out of high school, to working as an Advanced Systems Engineer at EDS, to consulting and development work that took him across Michigan’s business landscape. He knew the industry well. He also knew what bad looked like.
When the company Fred was working for began treating both its employees and its clients in ways he couldn’t stand behind, he made a decision. He quit, and the next day started Avalon Systems — a software development and consulting firm — on the principle that every client deserves to be treated with respect, and that doing the right thing isn’t optional.
After seven years building Avalon Systems, Fred founded NuTech Services in 2003 — expanding into managed IT, infrastructure, cloud, and business technology services. The same philosophy he started with carried over entirely: customer satisfaction first, revenue second.
More than two decades later, NuTech serves businesses across Michigan from five locations — and Fred still personally holds that standard on every engagement.

Fred Rappuhn was born and raised in Flint, Michigan — and has lived in Genesee County his entire life. NuTech Services started here, grew here, and has served Michigan businesses from here for over twenty years.
